Joseph Gratz letters received from his brothers, and land warrant, 1810 and 1837.

The collection consists of the following letters: Simon Gratz, a Philadelphia merchant and son of Michael Gratz, to his brother Joseph Gratz visiting Hamburg, Germany, 21 April 1810, with advice on his travels; Hyman Gratz, Philadelphia,to his brother Joseph, now in Bath, England, 28 December 1810, about Joseph's business dealings and finances. The collection also includes an 1837 warrant transferring 433 acres and 153 perches of land in Bradford Township, Clearfield County, Pa. from Aaron Levy to Joseph, Jacob, and Benjamin Gratz, warranted 9 May 1837. The land was originally surveyed 3 August 1792 for Stephen Kingston who deeded it to Aaron Levy, 8 June 1795, who, in turn, sold it to the Gratzes, 25 May 1812 (enrolled in Patent Book H, Vol 37, p. 310).
